    MEET THE WINEMAKER!
What an amazing opportunity to meet Jose Luís Gonzales Bastías & Daniela Lorenzo of González Bastias and taste through 4 of their wines!

Daniela Lorenzo and Jose Luis Gonzales Bastias are the couple behind one of Chile’s oldest, continuously family owned heritage Pais vineyards. They farm 4 hectares of seventh generation Pais that was planted over 200 years ago. Their land is on the southern shore of the Maule River close to the coast of Constitucion, in the Western Maule Valley. Their soil is river stones on top of a granite bedrock. The winery and cellar are on property, and many vignerons have spent time lending a hand here. Gonzales Bastias produces rare examples of age-worthy, estate-grown, natural, handmade Pais-centric wines. They are steeped in historical and cultural relevance and are a reference point for Chilean Wine.

  • After Hours: Meet Winemaker Fabien Jouves

    SATURDAY 5/18, 6-7:30PM

By now a hero of the new Upland wine renaissance, Fabien Jouves’ beginnings were auspicious and fun to witness. He took over his family’s old estate in Causse in 2006: Fabien planted his flag, so to speak, on the highest vineyard in the area to show the full potential of Côt (Malbec) as a nuanced, lifted, pure expression to a wine world perhaps more acquainted with extractive, clumsy varietal bottlings.

His knack for intensive, regenerative farming and intuitive winemaking has often been juxtaposed (and ratified) by clever cuveé names and a bit of a wild-child reputation that has mythologized his status. But make no mistake - he is a seriously great winegrower.

Now, nearly 20 years in, his bottles are iconic, and many have very special places in our hearts (ask us about our history with magnums of “À TABLE!!!” rosé sometime;)

We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Fabien back to the shop, and as a bonus, our dear friend and charismatic importer Laurent Bonnois will be on hand, too.
