GATHER & TASTE

  • AFTER HOURS: SUD OUEST

    Thursday, February 13
    6-7:30pm

W.S. Merwin wrote of the sensuous wisdom of the people of “The Lost Upland” - from Aveyron to Jurançon, Charente to Cahors - separated by some considerable distance but connected by ancient agricultural and viticultural routes - the metaphysical Sud Ouest serves as a romantic epitome for a “lost” way of French life. The cultural significance of the landscape and its people is having a resurgence thanks to many of the winemakers there - whether they come from generations of farming/winemaking or are recently arrived.

We’ll open six wines that offer glimpses into the myriad styles and some of the personalities driving these essential wine regions.

This is a private tasting to allow guests time to ask questions and engage with the group. The event starts at 6pm.

  • PUBLIC TASTING

    CLOS DU TUE-BŒUF
    FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 21
    4-5:30PM

Coco from Devenish Wines will be here to share some wine with us!

Our shop is not complete without the bottlings from the Puzelat family. We’ll taste several iconic bottles from one of the most vital and influential producers in the natural wine world.

This is a free tasting and all the wine curious are welcome to stop by!

  • AFTER HOURS: Winemaker Hervé Villemade!

    Thursday, March 20
    6-7:30pm

For many of you who frequent our little shop, Hervé Villemade needs no introduction. His beautiful wines from Cheverny and Cour Cheverny have been an integral feature on our shelves since day one. Of the generation of natural wine makers who were first finding an audience in the States at the turn of the century, Hervé produces some of our (and our customers’) most beloved wines, year in and year out.

His estate feels like a wonderland where, at any moment, a party or festival could break out - the cellar and chais are endowed with the kind of vibrancy usually reserved for a rave - but hard work is going on there. Fastidiously organic, and with a native son’s knowledge of his myriad terroirs, Hervé has carved out a sustainable enterprise in the face of frosts and other climate calamity.

We are so very excited to welcome Hervé back to M&L to taste with you all and share insights and stories about his work.
