$24.00

Location: France, Southwest, Bergerac

Winemaker: Vincent Alexis

Grapes: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Mérille

Soil: Clay, calcarious soils

Winemaking: Organic farming. Hang harvest, the grapes are de-stemmed and gently treaded, then go into stainless steel to be fermented and macerated for 10 days, then aged in stainless for several months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with no added sulfur.

From the Importer Jenny and Francois: Chateau Barouillet has been a family business going back at least 8 generations. Vincent Alexis works alongside his father and grandfather to cultivate the land and has pushed the winery into Organic viticulture, starting to convert the soil in 2010 and fully converting all the vineyards by 2014. The domaine controls 45 hectares of vines throughout Monbazzillac, Bergerac Pécharmant, and Cotes de Bergerac.

A perfect Mediterranean red with a beautiful balance of purple and red fruits to spiced licorice and sage-like herbs. A great affordable wine that drinks with anything and will still age nicely for several years!
