Domaine Sebastien David ‘Couple Goals’ Blanc 2022 (LITER)
Location: France, Loire, Bourgeuil
Winemaker: Sebastien David
Grapes: Chardonnay (from the Rhône), Chenin Blanc (from the Loire)
Soil: Sand with silex/flint
Winemaking: Fermented with wild yeasts in concrete; bottled without filtration/fining, barely any SO2.
From us at M&L: A new cuvée from Sebastien with négoce fruit he sources from the Ardèche: the playfully named wine is a drinkable ode to skin-contact from equal parts Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Waxy with plenty of stone fruit and gentle melon-y acidity.
From the Importer T. Edward Wines: Born in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil in 1974, Sebastien David comes from a long line of winemakers that extends 15 generations, back to 1634. Working with 15ha of Cabernet Franc that were planted by his grandparents at around the time of the Second World War, Sebastien makes natural wines from fruit that is Ecocert certified and biodynamically farmed.
