From The Tank RED BIB (3 LITERS)

$38.00
Only 2 available

Location: France, Rhône

Winemaker: Christophe Aguilar

Grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre

Soil: red clay based

Winemaking: The grapes are de-stemmed, crushed and the fruit undergoes fifteen days of maceration to extract enough body and flavors from the skins. Fermented with neutral yeast in concrete tanks where the wine is then stored. Bagged and boxed on-demand to ensure maximum freshness, with light filtration and no fining.

From the Importer Jenny & Francois: solar and Mediterranean! TANK Red is garnet in the glass with shimmering highlights. Elegant notes of smoky red fruit, violet, sweet herb, and a note of baking chocolate. The palate is rich with ripe cherry and berry flavors, and a mineral note that is followed by supple acidity and velvety tannins. Expressive red with a great concentration of fruit, finishing with floral notes and a dash of black pepper.

When Jenny created From the Tank, she was determined to source organically or sustainably-grown grapes that could then be turned into wine with little intervention. The wines she created together with winemaking partner Christophe Aguilar of Domaine de La Patience in the South of France remain to this day unique in the marketplace of wine: tasty low-intervention wine that can be purchased in retail for the equivalent of $7 – $12 per 750ml bottle.

The aim was also to create packaging that reduces greenhouse emissions and is easier to transport and serve than traditional glass bottles. Equalling four traditional 750ml bottles, the 3-liter bag-in-box is the most carbon-efficient wine package available and produces the least waste. It has a 55% lower carbon footprint in terms of energy needed for glass production and transportation and produces 85% less landfill waste. The plastic, which is 100% free of BPA or BPS residues, and the paperboard are easily recycled. Its lighter weight (only 7lbs [3.2 kg] for 3 liters of wine compared to the 10+ pounds brutto weight of four standard 0.75 glass bottles) also means reduced fossil fuel emissions further down the logistic chain.

In the less collective moments when a glass of wine after a busy day feels like a must, the boxes are the perfect long-term companion. Unlike regular bottles that usually keep only for days once opened, the box can spend up to one month in the fridge. The vacuum-sealed pack inside the box keeps the wine fresh, so you can drink a glass a night and avoid the waste that would come from not finishing a traditional bottle of wine – if such a thing ever happens to you .)
