Weingut Knauss ‘Pinot’ Brut Nature White 2019
Location: Germany, Württemberg
Winemaker: Andi Knauss
Grapes: Pinot Noir
From us at M&L: The wines of Andi Knauss have graced our shelves since we opened Maine & Loire. Andi knew from a young age he wanted to be a vigneron who was fully committed to the process (up until him the domaine was operated by those who made wine part time as a hobby). Andi set out to be a vigneron that worked organically and prized the life of the soil. And, he has been doing so since 2004. His wines are clean, purposeful, and revolutionary. Wines that are fully in-focus. Equal parts breath and tension. Wines that are exciting because his “experiments” are quite frankly genius. One of those experiments that he wasn’t quite sure the German market was ready for back in 2015 was the the ‘Pinot Zero’ Brut with zero added sulfites. We’re sure glad he took the chance. Ripe Red fruits, dew drops and damp forest floor. Lively and energetic. Enjoy during a leisurely weekend lunch of nothing but a hunk of stinky cheese and a loaf of crusty bread.
